Scrapbook – Ancient Order of Hibernians References

Description

This collection consists of records from the centre including a guest book with signatures and addresses, and pamphlets from 1966-1977, as well as a scrapbook containing news clippings, photos, and newsletters from 1966-1971, 1975-1977. The Irish Centre of Pittsburgh was developed in 1966 by Rev. Dr. Patrick McCarthy, a resident at St. Paul’s Cathedral and a professor of International Affairs at Duquesne University. The Centre’s purpose is to have a place where Irish people living in Pittsburgh can meet and engage with others in cultural, educational, social, and recreational activities. Most of its members are from Irish ancestry and are interested in the promotion of Irish folklore, arts, and customs.
