How to use this archive

  • Search by keyword, or browse by state, repository, material type, era, or organization.
  • Open an entry to see its details and a copy-ready citation.
  • Follow the entry’s link to the holding repository to request or view the materials there.
  • Spotted something missing or wrong? Use the “suggest a collection / report an error” link.

What you won’t find here

This is a discovery catalog, not a document repository or a genealogy database. To set expectations clearly:

  • No member-name or membership-roll index. This catalog describes collections, not individual people.
  • No digitized files hosted here. We do not store scans, photographs, or PDFs; each entry links out to the institution that holds the materials.
  • No login or members-only area. The entire catalog is public and free to browse.
  • Access to the physical or digital materials is arranged with the holding repository under its own terms.

Scope & sources — how entries are compiled

This catalog is compiled from finding aids, library catalogs, and repository search results identified as relevant to the AOH and LAOH. To help you weigh what you find:

  • An entry means AOH/LAOH-relevant material was identified at the named repository. Some entries describe a dedicated, distinctly described collection; others are leads found by keyword search, pointing to material where the AOH or LAOH is referenced within a larger collection.
  • Entry descriptions are adapted or quoted from the holding repository’s own finding aid. They sometimes describe the containing/parent collection rather than only the AOH/LAOH portion — always confirm the specifics with the repository.
  • The AOH does not hold these materials. Access, reproduction, and rights are governed by each holding repository under its own terms.
  • Spotted a mistake or a collection we should add? Use the “suggest a collection / report an error” link — the catalog grows from researcher and member contributions.
