Ancient Order of Hibernians – New Jersey Collection
Description
The Ancient Order of Hibernians, New Jersey Board functions as a benevolent society to promote Irish cultural and humanitarian identity. With our collecting focus in this area, the organization has started donating materials on a regular and continual basis. This collection includes correspondence, organizational materials, and publications related to the activities of the AOH at national, state, and division levels, as well as a collection of materials from other Irish-American organizations. Much of these materials are related to Irish-American immigration and human rights issues. Notable items include proclamations from New Jersey government officials, a mounted photograph of an AOH outdoor event from the 1890s, meeting minutes and ledger books from Division #3 Rahway dating from 1890s, and a scrapbook that once belonged to Mr. Patrick Magurie, Rt. Rev. C.J. Kane Division #3 Rahway, NJ which includes letters, booklets, clippings, and other items related to the Division.
Description adapted from the holding repository’s finding aid; it may describe the larger collection that contains the AOH/LAOH material.
The AOH does not hold these materials. Access, reproduction, and rights are governed by the holding repository under its own terms.
