Ancient Order of Hibernians Collection
(1878–2016)
Description
The Hibernians collection has two parts. The first consists of six 35mm microfilm reels preserving the official organ of the A.O.H. and Ladies Auxiliary: the National Hibernian (1905-1947) and the National Hibernian Digest (1947-1993). The second has several items from the Ladies Auxiliary (LAAOH) of Warren County, NJ, that includes a framed charter (1943), membership applications (1943-1961), monthly meeting minute book (1992-1996), expense account book (1973-1996), and a brief LAAOH history (1983, 2003). This collection was donated in several stages over the course of 23 years, with the first microfilm deposit from James O’Connor taking place in 1994. After a gap of ten years, the materials that came to comprise series 2 of this collection were donated by the Ladies Auxiliary of Warren County, New Jersey. Smaller subsequent deposits from John Meehan, President, took place in 2007 and 2008, and came to form series 3. Additional miscellaneous material received in 2015 and 2016 were absorbed into series 1 and 3 as well as formed series 4. One small deposit was made by Mike McCormack, National Historian, in 2017 and was added to series 4.
Description adapted from the holding repository’s finding aid; it may describe the larger collection that contains the AOH/LAOH material.
