These directories comprise listings of personal/business names and addresses. Mentions of the A.O.H. within these directories include the following specific editions. Polk’s Homestead (Allegheny County) City Directory, 1945; Polk’s Homestead (Allegheny County) City Directory, 1937-1938; Polk’s Homestead (Allegheny County) City Directory, 1939-1940; R.L. Polk & Co.s’ Homestead Directory, 19uu; Polk’s Homestead (Allegheny County) City Directory, 1941. These directories that are online were published by J.F. Diffenbacher or R.L. Polk & Company between 1815 and 1945. While most of the directories cover Pittsburgh and Allegheny City, a portion includes Homestead and nearby boroughs. This collection also contains several general business directories. There is no actual collection held by one institution; rather directories were contributed by Archives & Special Collections (University of Pittsburgh), Detre Library & Archives at the Heinz History Center, Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, and the Carnegie Library of Homestead.
