Description

Robert Theodore Meyer (1911-1987), a native of Ohio, received an M.A. in classical languages from John Carroll University and a doctorate in classics at Michigan University before coming to The Catholic University of America (CUA) in 1947 to serve as an instructor in German and comparative philology. He became assistant professor, then associate professor, full professor, and finally, in 1953, he became chair of the Celtic Studies Department. He gained the title of Professor Emeritus of the Department of Modern Languages from CUA in 1976 when he retired. This collection is comprised of Meyer’s personal papers, which include his diaries, correspondence, postcards, research notes, and manuscripts of his published works.
